Satellite Hub Sale By VT iDirect Expands Maritime Coverage

New hub to support increasing demand from oil & gas customers in Africa & extend coverage to mega-yacht owners in the Mediterranean and Atlantic. VT iDirect, Inc. (iDirect), a company of VT Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), announce that SkyStream FZ LLZ, a Dubai-based satellite service provider, has purchased an iDirect Series 15100 Universal Satellite Hub to extend and enhance the availability of its coverage for luxury yacht owners. The hub will also help SkyStream meet the growing needs of its oil and gas customers who operate on multiple continents. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology. Through its new iDirect hub, SkyStream will offer Ku- and C-band coverage using different satellites.

Dubai's Skystream Meets Connectivity Demands in Maritime & Energy Sectors

Sky-Stream selects two Eutelsat satellites to support increasing demands from maritime and energy sectors. Dubai-based Sky-Stream has selected capacity on two satellites operated by Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) to respond to connectivity demands from customers engaged in the marine and oil & gas sectors. Sky-Stream has contracted for a total of 70 MHz of bandwidth which will be progressively deployed on two Eutelsat satellites: EUTELSAT 3C and EUTELSAT 10A. Their combined footprint provides coverage across Europe and the Mediterranean Basin, the Middle East and Africa. Sky-Stream will use the new capacity to offer GSM backhaul, Internet access and on-Demand video services to its maritime and oil & gas customers.

Coast Guard Working to Gain Experience with Wind Turbines

The Coast Guard installed a Skystream 3.7 wind turbine which is estimated to produce approximately 10 percent electrical load and help the Coast Guard gain experience working with renewable energy and assess wind turbines use at remote Coast Guard sites in Alaska at Station Juneau Monday, Oct. 11, 2010. The Coast Guard Partnership in Education program and State of Alaska Wind for Schools program is also working with the Juneau school District to provide data from the turbines and educational opportunities for students to learn about wind energy.
