CACI Named MSC Logistics Prime Contractor
CACI International Inc says it has been selected as a prime contractor to provide logistics support to the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command (MSC) on the Worldwide Logistics Services (WLS) contract. The five-year (one base plus four option years) multiple-award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has a ceiling value of $37 million and represents continuing work in CACI’s Logistics and Material Readiness market area. Military Sealift Command is the leading provider of ocean transportation for the Navy and the rest of the Department of Defense (DoD), operating approximately 110 ships daily around the globe. The Command ensures DoD readiness by transporting military materials, such as fuel and equipment, and conducting specialized missions worldwide.
Sperry Marine Receives CMM Level 3 Rating on Software
Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine business unit has received a significant Process Maturity Level rating in an assessment conducted by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). The assessment was performed on the software engineering processes for integrated navigation systems and ship machinery control systems. In accordance with the SEI-licensed Capability Maturity Model (CMM) based appraisal for Internal Process Improvement (IPI), the assessment team concluded that the overall Sperry Marine software engineering process was at the Defined (Level 3) Process Maturity Level. Naval Shipyards To Get More User-Friendly Advanced Industrial Management Software
A more user-friendly version of the computer software naval shipyards use to plan and execute availabilities will soon be available to all naval shipyard project teams. On Aug. 12, The Navy Systems Support Group (NSSG) made the Windows NT version of its Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) software available to all shipyards. The four naval shipyards will train and test AIM NT until placing it in production between now and the end of October. Bernie Clark, NAVSEA's Deputy Director for Industrial Operations signed out the official release letter on Aug. 13. The AIM NT software replaces a UNIX-based version in use by the naval shipyards since 1994. The "new and improved" NT version is expected to make data entry and data manipulation easier and faster.
