Hardide Coating for Subsea Duties

TE Debuts Subsea CiA LVDT Position Transmitter Featuring CANopen Interface

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensor solutions, today announced a new Macro Sensors SSBR-937 Series CANBus LVDT Position Sensor with a  CANopen interface compliant to CiA 443 for subsea instruments. The CiA 443 CANopen profile offers more interoperable and standardized communications to network with devices from different manufacturers used on the ocean floor. The new submersible position sensor withstands deep sea environments with external pressures up to 5000 psi in excess of 1 million hours mean time between failure (MTBF), when encased in special alloys. The subsea CiA LVDT position sensor also offers extraordinary repeatability (error less than 0.01% of full range), regardless of offsets due to pressure and/or temperature.

Wood Group Kenny Wins Ghana Contract for Subsea Engineering

Wood Group Kenny (WGK) has been awarded an engineering services contract to support Tullow Ghana Limited and its partners through the execution phase of the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) project, offshore Ghana. WGK will provide subsea, umbilical, risers, flowlines (SURF) engineering services. The Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme oil fields are situated in the Deepwater Tano area, offshore Ghana, approximately 30 kilometres from the existing Jubilee field. Rigid Reel-Lay Pipe-in-Pipe Installed Offshore Malaysia

McDermott International, Inc. reports that its subsidiary has become the first to install rigid reel-lay pipe-in-pipe in Asia-Pacific for the Siakap North-Petai (SNP) development project offshore Malaysia. At more than 3,900 feet (1,190 meters), the SNP development is one of the industry’s most challenging deepwater projects. “Successfully installing the rigid reeled pipe-in-pipe flowlines on the Siakap project is a significant achievement for McDermott and a first for the region,” said David Dickson, President and Chief Executive Officer, McDermott.

Fugro Get Shell Malaysia US$250-Million Subsea IMR Contract

The Netherlands-based Fugro Subsea Services inform they have been awarded a long term contract by Sarawak Shell Berhad / Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Limited (Shell) for the provision of underwater inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) services at their subsea infrastructure across Malaysia. The contract will run for five years with options to extend. Fugro will establish a project office in Miri and a support facility in Labuan. Gulf of Mexico Recruiters Step Up Efforts

OilCareers.com has  released statistics suggesting that staff roles offered by employers in the Gulf of Mexico have increased almost sixteenfold in the last three years. Statistics show that the margin between contract and staff positions that reflected an equal split in 2009 now reveal a shift to five times as many staff than contract roles equating to 80% of job types currently registered on OilCareers.com. Subsea Hardware Spending to Double to $124 Billion

Douglas-Westwood (DW) forecast subsea hardware spending is set to double to $124 billion during 2013-2017 compared to the preceding five-year period. McDermott Acquires DeepSea

McDermott International, Inc. announced that certain of its subsidiaries have entered into an agreement in which McDermott has acquired all of the outstanding shares of the DeepSea operating companies. Terms of the purchase are not being disclosed. Headquartered in London, England, with engineering offices in Houston, Europe and Asia Pacific, DeepSea’s specialty services encompass subsea engineering and project management and extend from the wellhead to fixed, floating or shore-based production facilities for oil and gas operators worldwide.

Offshore O&M Expenditure Forecast: $335B in 5 Years

McDermott Wins Subsea Contract in Malaysia

McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE: MDR) (“McDermott”) announced theaward of a subsea contract to its Malaysian subsidiary for deepwater offshore engineering and construction, including transportation and installation of subsea infrastructure. The award is for the Kikeh Subsea Expansion Project by Murphy Sabah Oil Co., Ltd. for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation andcommissioning of pipelines and an umbilical and subsea hardware package.Engineering work on the Kikeh Subsea Expansion Project has started and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2012. The Kikeh area is located 120 kilometers northwest of Labuan, Malaysia, in 1,350 meters of water and is Malaysia’s first deepwater oil discovery.

Samson Rope, SWOS Team for Heavy Lift

Samson high-performance synthetic slings helped Technip install subsea hardware at Petrobras’ Cascade & Chinook project. Installing two pumping stations and two manifolds at Petrobras’s Cascade and Chinook fields in the Gulf of Mexico at depths in excess of 2,500m was accomplished with a “wet handshake” and the assistance of Samson’s AmSteel-Blue fabricated into lifting slings for the operation. Technip was the contractor, and Deep Blue was the installation vessel used during the deepwater installation.

Positive Outlook for Global Subsea Development, Deepwater Strengthening

There are 2,511 identified pending, probable and possible subsea production wells forecast (base case) worldwide over the next six years. Some 18 percent of these subsea completions will be installed in North America, 30 percent in Africa/Mediterranean, eight percent in Asia-Pacific, 26 percent in the North Sea and 18 percent in Brazil. These subsea projects are in various development stages, including: 23 percent at the pending/construction stage, 11 percent bidding, 9 percent in detailed engineering, 16 percent at the front-end engineering design (FEED) stage, 16 percent of the wells probable and 26 percent possible indicating possible development in the future.

DeepOcean Wins Reliance Contract

DeepOcean won a contract from Reliance Industries Limited of Mumbai, India for the provision of a Multi-Purpose Subsea Support Vessel and associated services. Contract duration is for a three year fixed term starting December 2007 with a further two, one year options. The three year base scope is valued $166m while the options hold a value of $118m if exercised. The Multipurpose Service Vessel (MSV) REM Etive will be deployed in December 2007 under the terms of a commercial agreement between DeepOcean and TS Marine (Contracting) Ltd., of Aberdeen. The vessel will be utilised to support the development of oil and gas discoveries in Block KG-DWN-98/3 in the Krishna Dodavarir Basin in the Bay of Bengal on India’s east cost.

Deepwater Development Dollars to Double

Deepwater field development expenditure is forecast to continue its strong growth trend, doubling over the next five years. Launching the latest edition of 'The World Deepwater Report' at the 14th Deep Offshore Technology Conference in New Orleans, John Westwood, managing director of international analysts Douglas-Westwood, said that his firm expected nearly $58 billion to be spent over the next five years in developing deepwater fields.
