Fendercare's New Offshore Pipe-Laying Solution
Fendercare Marine launch a new range of piggyback saddles to assist pipeline installation in the offshore industry. Piggyback saddles - alongside clamps and spacers - can act as a shaped interface between a pipeline and a cylindrical buoyancy tank, to ensure the tank rides comfortably and safely on top of the pipeline during the laying operation. They can also act as separators during parallel lay installations and are most frequently used when smaller secondary umbilicals or pipelines need to run along the top of the main pipeline in piggyback formation.

Aker Solutions Acquires Subsea Companies
Aker Solutions has acquired the Norwegian companies Subsea House and SSH Engineering and plans to further expand and recruit 50-100 people in Stokke, located in the Vestfold county of Norway. The transaction value is undisclosed. Subsea House and SSH Engineering, currently owned by Subsea Holding, employs 40 people in total. The companies were established in 2007 and have a solid background within development, assembly, testing and refurbishment of subsea tools and products. Milestone Renewable Contract for Expro
Expro Connectors & Measurements’ new renewable division has been awarded an important order by Alstom. Expro Connectors & Measurements (C&M) partners with Alstom to develop a cable connection and management system to be deployed on one of Alstom’s ocean energy projects, thus contributing to Alstom’s development of clean technology solutions to harness the energy potential of the world’s oceans. Expro will be supplying its SpecTRON, DigiTRON and FoeTRON wet mateable products alongside a cable connection system and termination head as well as cable protection and aftermarket services for site cable termination. This system will provide the subsea connection between the power export cable and the energy converter device.

Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies (KOGT) signed an agreement to supply a flexible risers and umbilicals installation system for the ‘Capstan Reel Installation System’ (CRIS), to the Offshore Installation Group (OIG). The patented CRIS design simplifies the subsea installation process, enabling a reduction in installation time and risk, which translates to significant cost savings. The CRIS is a sophisticated new product that will address the risk, safety and cost factors of offshore installations as production moves to deeper waters, further offshore.

The agreement – Flexlife’s first work in South America - was reached during the recent OTC Brasil exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.
Argus Subsea AZ-15J Subsea Tree
Argus Subsea, which manufactures innovative subsea products for time-critical fields, announced the introduction of the AZ-15J subsea tree and wellhead system. Specially designed for jack-up mobile drilling units, the Argus AZ-15J is the world’s first purpose-built system that allows operators to drill and complete wells up to 15,000 PSI working pressure without special riser systems or cumbersome temporary abandonments. The Argus AZ-15J provides an easier installation experience for operators, which takes less manpower and leads to a safer, more cost-effective production applications than with conventional mudline suspension systems using wellheads adapted for horizontal or vertical tree completions.
MSV Ocean Intervention, New Contract
Oceaneering International, Inc. (NYSE:OII) announced it has secured a one-year term contract with estimated revenue in the range of $25m to $30m for use of the MSV Ocean Intervention and other related services, commencing early February 2009. The contract contains a customer option for a one-year extension. The customer has contracted Oceaneering to conduct inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM) of deepwater subsea facilities in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). Examples of this work include changing out pods and chokes, installing flowline jumpers and control umbilical flying leads, remediating hydrates, and supporting diving operations on deepwater floating facilities.
Amclyde Wins Contracts
FGH Engineered Products Group, the equipment segment of Friede Goldman Halter, Inc., announced that its AmClyde unit has signed new contracts in excess of $13.5 million with customers in Freeport, Texas and Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. "AmClyde is very pleased to receive these key orders from our long-standing customer NPCC (National Petroleum Construction Company) of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and our new customer Cabett Subsea Products, Inc. of Houston, Texas," said Dick Juelich, AmClyde President. AmClyde has a contract with NPCC to provide a significant operating increase of the lifting capacity and reach for their 2000-ton model 76 marine crane, originally built in 1973.
