Swire Oilfield Services Strengthens East African Presence

Swire Oilfield Services, a global supplier of cargo carrying solutions, modular systems, offshore aviation services and fluid management, is strengthening its newly established presence in Kenya, East Africa with the appointment of Dan Davies as the new commercial manager. Dan will be responsible for the commercial activity across East Africa and further developing business in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and the wider East African region. The opening of an office in Kenya and the appointment of Dan comes as part of an overall growth strategy for Swire Oilfield Services in East Africa.

Swire Oilfield Services Acquires Weir

Supplier of specialist offshore cargo carrying units, Swire Oilfield Services, has announced the acquisition of the assets and operating business of Australia based Weir OCI, creating the largest regional supplier of offshore cargo carrying units (CCU) in the Australian and Asian region. Weir OCI is the company’s second Australian acquisition in the past year, and takes investment in the region to more than $25m. In August 2008 Swire Oilfield Services acquired Perth based Maritime Products & Services. The three companies together will now trade as Swire Oilfield Services Pty Ltd.

Swire Oilfield Services, a global supplier of cargo carrying solutions, modular systems, offshore aviation services and fluid management, has officially opened its new £4 million global headquarters in Aberdeen. The new headquarters are part of an overall investment in the business of £50 million this year to support the company’s international business development strategy. Swire Oilfield Services currently employs 750 people globally and expects to further increase its workforce by approximately 30% over the next 12 months.

Swire Opens Corporate Office in Houston

Swire Oilfield Services, a provider of offshore cargo-carrying units and associated services, has officially opened its North American corporate office in Houston, TX. Swire Oilfield Services, global supplier of cargo carrying solutions, modular systems, offshore aviation services and fluid management says it plans to further invest in Southeast Asia with the development of three new operational yards and the arrival of new rental equipment to its fleet. The company, which established its first Southeast Asia base in Singapore in 2010 and has since opened further bases across the region, is the largest supplier of DNV certified cargo carrying units in the Southeast Asia market.

He will also be responsible for driving growth in the operational function in the U.K., which incorporates the company’s new sling manufacturing and maintenance service.

Swire Oilfield Services, a provider of offshore cargo carrying units and associated services, has appointed Michael King as its new UK operations director. In his new role, Mr. King will ensure that the operational capability is fully developed, supported and resourced to provide the highest levels of service to all Swire’s customers served from the UK bases. Mr. King has a vast background in operations, starting 22 years ago when working as an aircraft engineer in the Royal Air Force.

Swire Announces New Products at OTC 2013

Swire Oilfield Services, LLC, introduced two new products to the Gulf of Mexico region at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), May 6 - 9. Swire’s Modular Systems division and SAFE (Swire Advanced Fluid Engineering) Tanks address the industry’s need for offshore workspace solutions and more advanced offshore fluid storage and transport. Both products will be on display at the conference. The company’s Modular Systems offering is made up of a comprehensive range of both pressurized and non-pressurized modules, which provide reliable and effective workspace and storage solutions.

Swire Oilfield Services Expands in North America

Swire Oilfield Services (Swire), has reinforced its commitment to growth with a significant investment in its North American operations, as part of the company’s global  $150 million investment this year. The company entered the Gulf of Mexico in 2007 with the establishment of an operations headquarters in Houma, Louisiana. Since then it has expanded with nine new facilities across the Gulf coast and North America, including Port Fourchon, Morgan City and Lafayette in Louisiana; Galveston, Three Rivers, Carrizo Springs and Midland/Odessa in Texas; Kenai, Alaska; Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago and a new corporate office in The Woodlands, Texas.

Swire Oilfield Services invests in North Sea

Swire Oilfield Services, a leading supplier of specialist offshore cargo carrying units (CCU), is defying market conditions by establishing Aberdeen, UK as a Centre of Excellence for its Cargo Carrying business with a $1.2m investment, creating five jobs. Work has already begun on the new paint curing facility at the company’s fleet refurbishment workshop in Aberdeen. The three acre site is scheduled for completion on the 1st of December and once fully operational, personnel including shot blasters and painters will be hired to service the new hub.

Hoover Container Solutions Names Matis Sales Director

Hoover Container Solutions,a subsidiary of Hoover Group, Inc., has named Matt Matis as director of sales for the Gulf of Mexico region. Matis is based in Thibodeaux, La., and will work closely with Hoover’s facilities in Port Fourchon, New Iberia and Scott, La. Matis will lead Hoover’s Louisiana sales efforts with a focus on the offshore industry while managing several major customer accounts. Additionally, he will work closely with the Hoover and Dolphin Energy Equipment teams to develop an integrated product and service offering to better support customers.

Swire Pacific Offshore, a Singapore-based unit of Hong Kong listed Swire Pacific Ltd, is reportedly investing more than $50 million to buy four new vessels.

Subsea operations specialist, Swire Seabed AS has taken delivery of its fourth subsea vessel, Seabed Constructor. Swire Seabed has secured a six-year contract for Seabed Constructor with UK based Ocean Infinity. The vessel will be carrying out AUV based survey and construction support operations on a global basis. The vessel is a multi-functional subsea support and construction vessel of MT6022 MK II design. 115 metres in length and with a beam of 22 metres, Seabed Constructor is equipped with a 250-tonne crane and a free deck space of 1,300 square metres.

Clarksons Appoint New Prospective Chairman

Leading shipping services group, Clarkson PLC, says that James Hughes-Hallett will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect and will take over as Chairman from 1 January 2015 when Bob Benton will retire from the Board. Clarksons explain that James Hughes-Hallett brings a wealth of experience in the world of shipping, transportation, offshore and global trade, having worked for the Swire group since 1976. He is currently chairman of John Swire & Sons Limited, a Non-Executive Director of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd, Swire Pacific Ltd and Swire Properties Ltd.

Following the naming of its new cement carrier, MV Aotearoa Chief, in New Zealand yesterday, The China Navigation Company (CNCo) christened its last newbuild, MV Tunsin, on 16 November at the Imabari Shipyard in Japan. Tunsin is the 241st CNCo newbuilding and the 86th vessel in this series. CNCo ordered four handysize bulk carriers (Imbari38 loggers) from Imabari Shipbuilding in 2014. Deliveries of the first three vessels, MV Taiyuan, MV Tientsin and MV Tsingtao took place between July and October this year.

ST Marine Successfully Delivers Its First Seismic Survey Vessel

Singapore, 28 March 2011 – ST Marine has successfully delivered its first Seismic Survey Vessel to Swire  Pacific  Offshore  Operations  (Pte)  Ltd  (Swire),  a  wholly  owned  subsidiary  of  Swire  Pacific Limited. In December  2008,  ST Marine  announced  the S$30m  contract  to  provide  detailed  design  and  to construct  the 68-metre Vessel  for Swire. Work  commenced  in 2009. The  contract  from Swire was awarded on  the back of a charter which Swire secured with a major player  in  the seismic market.

Swire Bulk Expands Atlantic Footprint

Swire Bulk, the dry bulk operating arm of The China Navigation Company (CNCo), opened an US Atlantic desk in the City of Miami, Florida, United States, on 25 January 2016. This new desk, headed by Ronald Cellucci, Swire Bulk’s newly appointed Regional Office Manager for Atlantic North America, is located at the Brickell City Centre. Andrew Kidd, CNCo’s Swire Bulk General Manager, said, “The Miami desk will be working closely with our London and San Francisco offices to grow Swire Bulk’s dry bulk handy business in North and South America.
