Singapore LNG and YTL PowerSeraya Appoint New CEOs
Singapore-based energy company YTL PowerSeraya and LNG terminal operator Singapore LNG Corp (SLNG) announced that they have appointed new chief executive officers (CEOs).YTL PowerSeraya said that han Swee Huat has decided to step down as CEO of the Group with effect from 15 January 2019. Chan plans to retire but will continue to serve as an advisor to parent company YTL Power International.He will be succeeded by industry veteran John Ng, who was most recently the CEO of Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG). Not new to YTL PowerSeraya, Ng had served as the company’s CEO (2009 to 2013) and prior to the appointment, held numerous leadership positions within the company.Chan took over the helm as CEO of YTL PowerSeraya from Ng in October 2013, a role which he has held for five years.
OMV, Sapura Energy Sign Pact
Malaysia’s Sapura Energy has entered into a heads of agreement with Austria’s OMV to form a strategic partnership and acquire half of Sapura Upstream for $1.6 billion."Under the agreements, OMV Exploration and Production GmbH (OMV E&P), a wholly-owned subsidiary of OMV Aktiengesellschaft, will buy a 50 per cent stake of the enlarged issued share capital in a newly-formed joint venture company, SEB Upstream Sdn Bhd (SUP), based on an enterprise value of up to USD1.6 billion comprising an equity value of up to USD1,250 million and debt of USD350 million," said a statement from Sapura Energy Berhad.The integrated oil and gas services company based in Selangor…

Sapurakencana Wins 3 Petronas Oil blocks
SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad today announced that it has entered into Sale and Purchase Agreements to acquire the entire interest of PETRONAS in 3 blocks offshore south Vietnam (Blocks 01/97 & 02/97, Blocks 10&11.1, Block 46-CN) for a total purchase price of US$400 million. The economic effective date of the transaction is January 1, 2014 and SapuraKencana is entitled to net revenues from these Blocks from that date. The closing of the transaction is subject to customary condition precedents including the approval of relevant government authorities. SapuraKencana was selected as the winning bidder through an international and professionally managed competitive bidding process.
IHC Merwede Launches Sapura Pipelayer
IHC Merwede has successfully named and launched the pipelaying vessel Sapura Topázipo in a ceremony at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The naming of the fully integrated IHC Merwede vessel was carried out by Puan Sri Datin Seri Yazreen Yahya, spouse of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Shahril Shamsuddin, President and Group CEO of SapuraKencana. World's First FLNG Vessel Steel-Cutting
A steel cutting ceremony for the hull of Petronas' first Floating Liquid Natural Gas (FLNG) held at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in Okpo, South Korea. The steel cutting event signifies a major milestone for the project, which according to Petronas is the world’s first, and the construction phase now commences to meet its commissioning schedule in 2015. The ceremony was led by Petronas’ President and Group CEO, Tan Sri Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas and was jointly hosted by Technip’s President & CEO Mr. Thierry Pilenko and DSME’s President & CEO Mr. Jaeho Ko. The floating LNG facility will be located in Malaysia’s Kanowit gas field, 180 kilometres offshore Sarawak and will have the capacity to produce 1.2 mtpa of LNG per year.
