Morocco to Sell Sake in Port Operator Marsa Maroc to Tanger Med
The Moroccan government has agreed to sell a 35% stake in terminal operator Marsa Maroc to Groupe Tanger Med, raising 5.48 billion dirhams ($610 mln) for state coffers, Marsa Maroc said on Tuesday.The government will retain 25% of the capital and voting rights in Marsa Maroc, a Casablanca-listed company that manages terminals at 9 Moroccan ports, the statement said, without providing further details.Tanger Med manages a container and passenger port as well as 2000 hectares dedicated to industry and logistics linked to the port.Tanger Med port, the main export hub for Morocco's automotive indus
Konecranes to Supply RTG Cranes to Tangier Port
Finnish manufacturer of cranes and lifting equipment Konecranes Oyj has won an order to supply a terminal at Tangier Med Port II with 16 Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes.The cranes will be delivered in batches with the last ones arriving by mid-July 2020. The order was booked in May 2019.The 16 Konecranes RTGs will go into service at the new container terminal TC3, Tanger Med 2, in the Port of Tangier. They will be the first Konecranes container cranes in Morocco. MedPort Tangier Opened
APM Terminals Medport Tangier container terminal has officially opened its doors in Morocco.Part of the Tanger Med Port complex, it has an annual capacity of 5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalents)."With this new capacity, Morocco is establishing itself as one of the most important transshipment locations in the world. MTU 4000 Engines to Power Harbor Tugs
Rolls-Royce and Sanmar Shipyards in Turkey have signed a contract for the delivery of eight MTU Series 4000 engines for four new terminal tugs, including an option for a further four engines. The tugs will each be fitted with two 16V 4000 M73L MTU engines, each delivering an output of 2,700 kW (at 1,850 rpm). The MTU brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems. APM Orders 12 STS, 32 ARMGs Cranes
APM Terminals has announced orders for 12 remote-controlled Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes and 32 Automated Rail-Mounted Gantry Cranes (ARMGs) to equip the new five million TEU* APM Terminals MedPort Tangier facility now under construction at the Tanger-Med II port complex. The container terminal will be the second operated by APM Terminals at the Tanger-Med port complex designed to serve the newest Ultra-Large Container Ships (ULCS) with capacities up to 20,000 TEUs. APM Terminals MedPort Tangier will have up to 2,000 meters of quay length and increase the Tanger-Med complex’s overall capacity to over nine million TEUs. The facility complements APM Terminals Tangier which handled 1.7 million TEUs in 2015.
Morocco to Get First Automated Container Terminal
Port operator APM Terminals to develop a new transshipment terminal in Tangier, Morocco with an annual capacity of five million TEUs. APM Terminals MedPort Tangier will become operational in 2019, serving multiple trades and will be the first automated terminal in Africa. The 30-year concession of APM Terminals MedPort Tangier will complement the current operations of the existing APM Terminals Tangier facility. APM Terminals has been named as the operator of a new container transshipment terminal at the Tanger Med 2 port complex. APM Terminals already operates the APM Terminals Tangier facility at Tanger Med 1 port, which started operations in July of 2007 and handled 1.7 million TEUs in 2015. The new terminal will have annual capacity of five million TEUs.
