UAE Joins the Association of Asian Classification Societies

ASIS Boats Delivers High-speed Passenger RIB

Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) builder ASIS Boats has built and delivered the first of a fleet of 12-meter all weather passenger transport professional RIBs. The intended use of these RIB Boats will be to transport safely up to 23 passengers from main land to islands, daily and continuously, under any weather conditions. With 450-liter under deck stainless steel fuel tanks and powered by twin 250-horsepower Suzuki four stroke outboard engines, this semi-rigid transport RIB can reach speeds of up to 43 knots and speeds of 40 knots with all 23 passengers on board…

Oman Signs Pacts with Ship Classification Bodies

Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) has signed agreements with three ship classification societies for small ships that do not abide by international treaties, said a report in Times of Oman. The agreements were signed with the British (Lloyds Register of Shipping), Italian (Rina) and Emirati (Tasneef) ship classification societies. Saeed bin Hamdoon bin Saif Al Harthy, undersecretary of Ports and Maritime Affairs, signed the agreements on behalf of the ministry and the chief executive officers and regional directors represented the classification societies. Additionally, the authorization involves conducting a technical survey on ships holding the Omani flag, as well as the issue of global certification.

Steel Cut for Middle East's First LNG Harbor Tug

UAE Shipping Delegation to Meet with Greek Counterparts

A delegation of Middle East maritime heavyweights including H.E. Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman & group CEO Drydocks World and Maritime World and Rashid Mohammed Al Habsi, the chief executive of Tasneef, will attend the ‘Maritime Transportation of Energy and Mediterranean Ultra Deep Water Exploration’ event in Athens. On the sidelines of the event, the UAE delegation will meet with various industrial groups from Greece including those specialized in shipbuilding, repair and maintenance; maritime transport; ship owners and renewable innovations in ship design industry to explore avenues for mutual growth of the UAE and Greek shipping sectors, says a press release from the company.

RINA Launches Notation for Eco-ships

International classification society RINA has launched a new voluntary notation to clearly identify new ship designs which meet eco-ship criteria. Tasneef-Rina Class First Vessel

Emirates classification society Tasneef has classed its first commercial vessel. The 96,214 dwt oil tanker Energena is jointly-classed with Italian classification society Rina. Yesterday His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, attended a ceremony to mark the flag raising and the granting of classification by Tasneef-Rina. The vessel is owned by Dubai-based Energena Shipping and managed by Gulf Stolt Ship Management JLT, (GSSM).

The oil tanker “Energena’ managed by Gulf Stolt Ship Management and currently undergoing maintenance at Drydocks World, will become the first commercial vessel to sail under the UAE flag
, reports 'Trade Arabia'. The Tasneef (Emirates Authority for Classification) classification document recorded that the tankship was registered in the UAE making it the first commercial vessel to be so registered. Tasneef was established in 2012 as the first classification society in United Arab Emirates, the GCC region and Arab world, according to 'Trade Arabia'.

RINA and Drydocks World Team Up

The RINA Group has entered a framework agreement to supply certification and engineering services to UAE-based Drydocks World - Dubai (LLC). Maritime Industry Council Established in Dubai

RINA Group supports Tasneef

RINA Group has been chosen as the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) partner to support the development of Tasneef, a new classification society for the United Arab Emirates. Emirates Classification – Tasneef has been established in Abu Dhabi and plans to expand with future worldwide offices. Working in partnership with RINA, the goal is to develop Tasneef as an international classification society capable of meeting the technical and classification needs of the region's maritime industry, the UAE flag and international commercial shipping.
