Northern Lights Partners with MAN Engines & Components

Northern Lights announced a new partnership with MAN Engines & Components, when on June 30 2021, Northern Lights acquired MAN Engines West Coast distributor Rabaul Diesel Inc (RDI). Northern Lights  said the deal with MAN is a great addition to its family of products including Northern Lights marine generators, Technicold air conditioning, refrigeration, ice machines & Lugger propulsion engines.Also headquartered in Seattle, WA Northern Lights intends to operate under Northern Lights Power and Energy for the Western US and Canada.

Fast Support Vessel Delivered for SEACOR

Louisiana shipbuilder Gulf Craft has delivered the third vessel in a series of new class monohull fast support vessels (FSV) for SEACOR Marine.According to designer Incat Crowther, the vessel Libby L. McCall advances the traditional offshore support vessel model and offers a more cost efficient, comfortable, flexible, and safe option to helicopter transportation.The vessel features redundancy to mitigate against down time or loss of functionality due to mechanical complications.

Northern Lights manufactures marine generator sets from 5-500kW, designed to meet all current US EPA marine regulations. In April 2016, NLI opened its fifth branch office in Kenner, LA. The branch will warehouse marine, industrial and commercial series products and cover New Orleans, Houston, Pensacola and Paducah.

Yanmar Names US/Canada West Coast Distributor

Valley Power Systems has entered into a distributor agreement with Yanmar America Corporation for the sale and service of Yanmar’s commercial marine diesel engine line throughout the states of California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska, as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia. In business for over 65 years, Valley Power Systems provides power and propulsion products for the commercial and pleasure craft marine industries from manufacturers such as MTU, Electro-Motive (EMD), Scania, Northern Lights, Technicold and now Yanmar Commercial Marine.

Technicold by Northern Lights Names Hall Sales Director

Technicold by Northern Lights, a manufacturer of marine heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, has appointed 25-year industry veteran Shaun Hall to the position of Global Sales Director. Hall spent the last five years as National Sales Manager for Marvair in Florida. He has also served as Sales Manager at Pompanette and in management roles at SportCraft Boats and Donzi Marine. As Global Sales Director, Hall will lead the growth and development of Technicold’s business across all territories and market segments…

Harley Tractor Tug 'Robert Franco' Launched

Nichols Brothers Boat Builders has launched the first of two tractor tugs they have contracted with Harley Marine Services. The new tugboat will be delivered to Harley Marine Services in mid April 2013. The Tractor Tug, a Jensen Maritime of Seattle, Washington design, is ABS load line certified. It has two Caterpillar 3516C diesel engines coupled to the Rolls Royce z-drive system and it is also equipped with two Cat C9 generators. The propulsion package will produce over 90 tons of bollard pull with a combined horsepower of 6,770, giving the tug exceptional pulling power and maneuverability. The vessel is outfitted with Mackay Marine Electronics, Technicold by Northern Lights HVAC system, two Markey winches, one forward for ship assist and one aft for towing and a Smith Berger tow pin aft.

Nichols Brothers Boat Builders Launch M/V Robert Franco

On March 14, 2013 Nichols Brothers Boat Builders launched the M/V Robert Franco  the first of two tractor tugs Nichols has contracted with Harley Marine Services. Nichols began construction of the 100’ x 40’ Z-drive ship assist tractor tug in May of 2012. On March 14th 2013 Nichols launched the vessel into Holmes Harbor of Whidbey Island from their Freeland Shipyard. The vessel was then towed to Nichols Langley site for final vessel outfitting, dock and sea trials. The M/V Robert Franco will be delivered to Harley Marine Services in mid April 2013.

Technicold Selected for Commercial Fishing Vessel

Technicold by Northern Lights, an industry leader in marine HVACR systems, has been selected to supply the cooling and heating system on the environmentally friendly long-liner Northern Leader. Technicold will provide a complete climate control system to the 184 ft.’ commercial fishing vessel. Technicold components include a three- stage 360,000 BTU/hour chilled water system. It incorporates a new two- stage 18kW immersion heating system, uniquely designed for this project. The air handlers will provide both heat and air conditioning to the ship’s galley, pilot house, crew and common areas.

Technicold Facility Expansion

Technicold by Northern Lights announced its expansion to a larger facility. In late 2009, Technicold will move into an expanded, better-equipped location in the greater Fort Lauderdale, Fla. area. Technicold’s steady growth and current market positioning require more space for manufacturing of air conditioning, refrigeration and electrical load management products. The new facility will house Technicold’s corporate headquarters as well as on-site sales, engineering and manufacturing operations. Technicold offers a line of chilled water air conditioning systems, from 24,000 to 180,000 BTU. Technicold also manufactures chilled water air handlers, direct expansion systems, sea water refrigeration systems and automatic load banks, exclusively for the marine market.

Founded as Rich Beers Marine, Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in 1981, Technicold by Northern Lights is dedicated to producing high quality marine climate control systems. Technicold’s product line includes a comprehensive line of chilled water, direct expansion and self-contained air conditioning systems from 16,000 to 180,000 BTUs; heavy-duty air handlers (with optional heating elements) and other systems such as fresh air make-up systems, refrigerated sea water systems and hold-over plates.
