Minister to Open Shipbuilding and Tech Show

Gulf Times reported that the third edition of the International Shipbuilding, Port and Marine Technology Exhibition was opened by Minister of State HE Sheikh Hamad bin Suhaim al-Thani at the . The three-day Ship & Port + Europort Maritime 2008 will feature more than 70 participants from the region and elsewhere, making it one of the largest maritime industry events of the region.  The event runs until Wednesday. SMM 2000 Set For Hamburg

Reporting this year's SMM 2000 Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology Exhibition as "booked out," Hamburg Messe is dubbing the exhibition as one that is multi-cultural and lingual - the bi-annual conference is predicted to attract more than 1,000 from 42 countries. Designating Spain as this year's partner country, the exhibition, which has been dubbed the leading trade fair of world shipbuilding, SMM 2000, will take place at Hamburg Exhibition Centre from September 26-30, 2000. Holding a place as the main international forum for executives in the shipping and shipbuilding sector for many years, SMM has further consolidated its top position with its "Hall of Nations" strategy involving grouping national pavilions under one roof, which was implemented for the first time at SMM `98.

Sperry Marine Unveils New Navigation Technology

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Sperry Marine business unit unveiled its next-generation marine navigation technology last week at the Sunborn Yacht Hotel in London. The new Sperry Marine family of navigation products, which will be marketed under the VisionMaster FT label, will be publicly launched at the Shipbuilding Machinery & Marine (SMM) Technology exhibition in Hamburg in September. “VisionMaster FT is a scalable family of solutions designed with an advanced PC-based Ethernet architecture offering easy upgradeability and built-in redundancy to meet the emerging requirements for shipboard navigation in the 21st century,” said J. Nolasco DaCunha, director of Sperry Marine Systems.
