Thome Ship Management, one of the world’s leading independent international ship managers, has chosen MarineLink eCommerce provided by EDB ErgoGroup as the sole eCommerce provider for its purchasing operations. The three year contract covers its entire fleet of about 150 vessels. E-business solutions are not new to Thome Ship Management, as the group has been using e-business solutions since 2005. In April 2007, Thome Ship Management added the then MTS to their e-business platform.

Thome Celebrates 50 Years of Maritime Services

The Thome Group celebrated its 50th anniversary in Copenhagen yesterday, 21st August. The event took place in at the Royal Yacht Club at the waterfront north of Copenhagen with more than 100 shipping dignitaries from the Danish Maritime Cluster attended. In addition to celebrating the Thome Group 50 year company anniversary, the event was also to mark the official opening of Thome Ship Management Denmark office with several Thome Group senior executives attending. The Copenhagen event forms part of the Thome Group global celebrations this year, latest with the Oslo celebration for the Norwegian shipping cluster held last week. In his opening speech, the Chief Executive Officer of Thome Ship Management, Carsten Ostenfeldt, proudly explained Thome’s expansion plan with the Danish setup.

Thome Ship Management has added to its senior management tier by appointing Steen Nygaard Madsen as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Thome Ship Management Tanker Fleet. Madsen will take up the position on June 1 this year, bringing with him experience in running ships, stemming from his seagoing career as well as his time with A.P Moller in Copenhagen where he was operationally responsible for a large section of its fleet. Previously, he was also Technical Director for Nordic Tankers/Herning-Shipping .

Thome Ship Management Pte Ltd and Radio Holland Singapore have concluded a Service Rate Agreement (SRA) covering the NavCom service and maintenance needs of its entire fleet of more than 200 vessels. Headquartered in Singapore, Thome Ship Management has worked together with Radio Holland for many years. The two companies have now taken a next step to a new format of cooperation with the SRA, which includes everything from annual radio surveys to servicing bridge equipment, to the delivery of spare parts and on-the-spot troubleshooting.

Thome Ship Management, headquartered in Singapore, has worked for many years with Radio Holland, which is part of Imtech Marine, but until now this has largely been on an ad hoc basis. Officially signed on June 1, the agreement covers a pool of nine chemical oil tankers of around 45,000-50,000 dwt on a 24/7 basis. The MSA covers the maintenance of marine electronic equipment including navigation, communication, automation and IT equipment.

Thome to Manage Its First DIS Vessel

Thome Ship Management has reached a new milestone by taking over the full management of its first vessel to be flagged under the Danish International Ship Register. KVH Media Group, distributor of licensed films to the maritime market, and part of KVH Industries, Inc., has announced an agreement with Thome Ship Management to provide 41 Thome vessels with the MOVIElink service. Part of the Thome Group, Thome Ship Management will initially roll out the MOVIElink service to product tankers and LPG carriers. Thome Offshore Bolsters Top Management

Thome Offshore Management (TOM) and Thome Oil & Gas (TOG), the offshore services arm of Singapore-based Thome Ship Management, has appointed John A. Sydness, as Managing Director for Thome Offshore and Thome Oil & Gas. His appointment is effective immediately. Nordic Shipholding A/S has appointed Thome Ship Management Pte Ltd and Columbia Shipmanagement (Singapore) Pte Ltd as new technical managers of its vessels replacing TB Marine Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. Shipping Firms Pay $1.9 Mln for Pollution Cover-up

Two shipping companies based in Egypt and Singapore will pay $1.9 million in penalties after pleading guilty in federal court to violating the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships (APPS) and obstruction of justice for covering up the illegal dumping of oil-contaminated bilge water and garbage into the sea. Defendants Egyptian Tanker Company and Thome Ship Management are the owner and operator of the offending vessel, the 57,920 gross ton, 809-foot long, oceangoing, oil tank ship called the M/T ETC Mena. The plea agreement was announced by Acting Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey H. Wood for the Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division and Acting U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston for the Eastern District of Texas.

Korean Shipyard Delivers Vroon Asphalt-Chemical Tanker

Dutch shipowners, Vroon B.V. The vessel was constructed at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, Ulsan, South Korea to ice-class requirements. Her sister vessel, Iver Brilliant, scheduled for delivery in July will be the last of 19 vessels constructed for Vroon at the Dockyard since 2005. In a ceremony held in Korea on 22 May, Iver Bright was named by Mrs Metos Delgado-van de Bospoort, wife of Mr Frans van de Bospoort, Managing Director Chemical, LPG & Product Tanker Group, DVB Bank. The vessel will be operated by Iver Ships B.V.
