SEA to Upgrade CSH on Chile Navy Frigates

Cohort plc company SEA will start work in December on upgrading the Combat Systems Highway (CSH) infrastructure on the Chilean Navy’s three former Royal Navy Type 23 frigates. The upgrade on the Chilean frigates Almirante Cochrane, Almirante Condell and Almirante Lynch follows a similar obsolescence upgrade carried out on the RN’s 13 Type 23 ships. SEA has a support contract covering the CSH for RN frigates and also supports CSHs for various defence Primes. CSH manages data exchange messages, which are a vital and integral feature of the ship’s Combat System, enabling valuable operational assets such as the Combat Management System, surveillance, weapon and sonar systems to communicate in a reliable and deterministic manner.

Transas Upgrades Simulator Complex in Batumi

On November 27, 2014, President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili and President of Latvia Andris Berzins visited Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) opened the renovated simulation center. The Full Mission Offshore simulator, which has become the extension of the existing simulation complex, has been developed and installed by the Transas Marine. The full mission Transas offshore simulator with 270 degrees visualization is based on the Transas NTPRO 5000 software and will be used for training in dynamic positioning operations.

Furuno Makes Clean Sweep of NMEA Awards

Transas Offshore Simulator for Batumi State Maritime Academy

Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) and Transas Marine Black Sea today signed a contract for supply and installation of the Transas Full Mission Offshore simulator. The simulator complex will be one of the most advanced in the Black Sea region. The full mission Transas offshore simulator with 270 degrees visualisation is based on the Transas NTPRO 5000 software and will be used for training in dynamic positioning operations. The simulator will enable training of crews involved in transfer and supply of mobile offshore units. Training course will be accredited by the Nautical Institute. Specially for the project, Transas will develop simulator areas for three ports of Georgia: Batumi, Poti and Kulevi. In addition, the simulator will use the next generation universal hardware solutions.

Alu Design Operator Chair Lands Star Role In 'Transformers: Age of Extinction'

Norway’s Alu Design is set to make its Hollywood debut in the latest Transformers blockbuster, with the news that its MH OCH 300 operator chair has secured a role in Paramount Pictures’ Transformers: Age of Extinction. The seat, created for Aker Solutions in 2012, will now be seen ā€œat the heartā€ of the film’s set design, starring alongside actors such as Mark Wahlberg, Kesley Grammer and Stanley Tucci. It’s a bewildering development for Kristiansand-based Alu Design, a market leader in the design and manufacture of advanced pilot chairs and deck rails. The firm created the chair to offer new ergonomic and user-friendly standards for operators working in the restricted space of Drillers Cabins on offshore rigs… not for science fiction action films.

RMA selects Transas Engine Room Simulator

Resolve Maritime Academy (RMA) has ordered the Transas Techsim 5000, DNV approved, Class A, Full Mission Engine Room Simulator for their new simulation facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The new engine simulation systems currently being deployed will facilitate the conduct of a wide range of courses for the training of marine engineers, including operational and emergency procedures and crew resource management training with Resolve’s existing Transas Full Mission Bridge Simulators.

A new Offshore Simulator Center (OSC) is being finalized  in Aalesund, Norway to provide advanced training in offshore ship operations. The new facilities are located in a 'Norwegian Competence Center building' next to the Aalesund University College. Kongsberg to Supply UK Nautical College Simulators

Kongsberg Maritime has been chosen to supply a suite of upgraded navigation, engine room and Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) simulator hardware and software for an extensive facilities upgrade to the School of Simulation & Senior Marine at South Tyneside College. Kongsberg Simulators for Maersk Training Center

Kongsberg Maritime is providing maritime simulators for Maersk's new State-of-the-art drilling operations and offcshore training facility. Kongsberg Maritime simulators have been selected for the forthcoming MOSAIC 2 facility (Maersk Offshore Simulation and Innovation Centre) at Maersk Training in Svendborg, Denmark. Building officially commenced on the state-of-the-art new facility on the Maersk Training campus on 29th November 2011. A frame agreement signed by Kongsberg Maritime and Maersk Training on December 12th 2011 covers delivery of a range of simulators and ongoing support that will act as the platform for high quality offshore drilling operations training at MOSAIC 2.

Bollinger Introduces

The evolution of a new offshore boat design ideally happens with considerable customer input. But in the case of Bollinger Shipyards' new 220-ft. class supply vessel, a fortunate coincidence happen.
