With a family of three yards located along the Gulf of Mexico in Alabama, Mississippi and Texas, Signal International offers new construction, rig and ship repair, offshore and technical services. Marine construction and repair needs are complimented by three dry docks; a 30,000-ton lift rig dock, a 22,000-ton Panamax dry dock and a 4,500-ton lift dry dock. In Mobile, Ala., Signal Ship Repair (SSR) offers 4,400 ft. of water front along the Mobile River with a maintained channel depth of 44 ft. This facility specializes in ship repair and conversion.
Second International Exhibition of Shipbuilding Slated for Moscow
The second International Complex Exhibition of Shipbuilding, Water Resources Use and Exploration, “The Ocean 2012,” in Moscow November 29 through December 1, will address all aspects of marine activities at one venue, to combine the interests of science and manufacture, but also draw the attention of International business community to the latest developments in different spheres of exploration. The exhibition is held under the patronage of Maritime Collequim of the Government of the Russian Federation and Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The exhibition seeks to support the extension of the innovative and industrial cooperation with foreign countries.
M/V Columbia Returns to Service
M/V Columbia, reported to be the largest ship in the Alaska Marine Highway’s fleet, returned to revenue service on June 5 with its scheduled sailing southbound from Ketchikan. The Columbia begins weekly round trip service between Bellingham, Wash. and Skagway, Alaska, with intermediate stops in Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersberg, Juneau, Haines and Skagway with additional southbound stops in Sitka. Columbia left Cascade General Inc., (CGI) shipyard in Portland, Ore., on May 30 on schedule and within budget, after a major improvement project. In recognition of CGI’s efforts, the AMHS Vessel operations manager, Captain Jack Meyers, presented Bruce Dummer, senior V.P. of Finance, with an oversized replica of a $14,000 incentive check in a ceremony at the yard just prior to the ship’s departure.
