Corvus Energy this week celebrated the grand opening of its new battery factory in Bellingham, Wash., amid growing demand for energy storage systems in the U.S. marine industry.Located in Fairhaven at the Port of Bellingham, the new battery plant produced its first Orca battery module in November 2022 and has already delivered several orders.“We have seen a significant uptake in opportunities for maritime batteries from the U.S. market,” said Geir Bjørkeli, CEO of Corvus Energy.

Corvus Energy, supplier of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for marine applications, announced plans to open a new factory in the state of Washington to help meet demand for marine BESS in the Americas as the marine industry accelerates its adoption of decarbonization technology to meet global emissions reduction targets.The manufacturing facility—located just north of Seattle in the Port of Bellingham—will have an annual capacity of 200 MWh of stored energy capacity as forecasts…

At the annual Brunswick State of the Port event Tuesday, Georgia Ports Authority Executive Director Curtis Foltz discussed an ambitious capital improvement plan for Brunswick terminals. "In order to ensure efficient processing of cargo, our capacity must remain higher than current demand," Foltz said. Foltz said that over the past decade, the GPA has spent $46.2 million on infrastructure upgrades at the Port of Brunswick. Over the next 10 years, the Authority plans to more than triple that investment, calling for another $152 million in improvements. In one of those projects, the GPA intends to add a fourth berth to serve roll-on/roll-off cargo at Colonel's Island Terminal. The GPA has submitted a permit request to the U.S.

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd , the maker of Subaru cars, said it would continue flying car parts to its U.S. factory beyond an initial arrangement through the end of February, as a labor dispute at U.S. West Coast ports delays shipments. The Japanese automaker had said earlier it was spending an extra 7 billion yen ($59 million) for one month from the end of January to fly components such as engines and transmissions on chartered cargo flights instead of shipping them. Dozens of ships queuing to dock due to ports dispute; Honda slowing North American car production as parts held up. A labor dispute at ports on the U.S. West Coast is disrupting supply chains across the Pacific, forcing some Asian suppliers to resort to costly air freight and pushing up shipping rates as more freighters are caught up in long queues to dock. With ports near gridlock and cargo delays being felt throughout the U.S. economy, President Barack Obama on Saturday dispatched Labor Secretary Tom Perez to California to try to broker an agreement on a new contract between dockworkers and the group representing shippers and terminal operators. Ports along the coast, which between them handle nearly half of all U.S.

U.S. West Coast port operations resumed in full on Monday after shipping companies halted loading and unloading of freighters for the weekend, citing chronic cargo backups that shippers and dockworkers have blamed on each other during months of labor tensions. But a planned resumption of federally mediated contract talks was pushed back until Wednesday without explanation, even as the White House joined retailers and manufacturers in urging the sides to redouble efforts to settle a dispute that has rippled through the U.S. commercial supply chain. Shippers and terminal operators announced last week they would suspend cargo crane operations for container vessels at the ports on Saturday and Sunday because of mounting congestion that they said had brought the docks to virtual gridlock.

After two years of development, Ellicott Dredges announced the startup of two new dredging simulators, one for cutter dredges and one for auger dredges. Both are available for immediate use. These simulators are the most modern dredge simulator systems in North America, and will be used in conjunction with Ellicott's existing dredge training program. Auger dredge training is available at Ellicott’s Wisconsin, U.S. factory. PARAT Halvorsen AS has been awarded an order for an 8000 kgs/h Steam Boiler Plant to be installed in the factory trawler, Northern Hawk, which is owned by the United States fishing company, Coastal Villages Pollock, LLC. Northern Hawk is a Stern Trawler, built by the shipyard Ulstein Hatlø in 1990. PARATs delivery is a retrofit of the existing boiler plant, designed to meet the needs of the on-board fishmeal plant and vessel heating system. The new boiler plant will be delivered with the latest technology for burning fish oil.

Maritime Services Corporation (MSC), a marine interior company specializing in turnkey installations, reports that it has a backlog of contracts exceeding $10.5m in value for assignments to be completed this November through March. A $6 million contract with Princess Cruise Lines is now in fabrication at the company headquarters in Hood River, Oregon for the Sapphire Princess. Installation will take place in Victoria, B.C. in January. In addition, MSC will begin modifications on two dinner vessels next month for Portland Spirit in Portland, Oregon. Those jobs will also be complete in January. MSC’s Southampton, U.K. office will begin in November a $1.4 million refurbishment contract in Hamburg, Germany for Carnival, U.K. on the Oriana. Also next month, MSC U.K.

Zodiac of North America, Inc., manufacturer of inflatable boats and rigid-hull inflatable boats (RIBs), announced a "Spring Stimulus Sale" for Avon and Zodiac Jet Tenders currently in inventory. The Spring Stimulus Sale saves customers 25% off the Zodiac ProJet 350 and Avon Seasport 320 Jet models. Freight and pre-delivery inspection fees are extra, and the sale is limited to in-stock models, on a first-come, first-served basis. Both jets feature compressed 4-stroke turbocharged engines that produce 104 horsepower. They also feature closed-circuit liquid cooling systems to maintain prime operability. Jet Tenders are primarily used as ship-to-shore service boats for motoryachts. As such, they have low, streamlined profiles optimized for davit use and on-boat cradle storage.
