Although the basic design of inland towboats has not changed in decades, there is a revolution in their propulsion systems.  To meet strict environmental regulations while minimizing operating costs, Osage Marine Services has once again turned to Laborde Products to supply state-of-the-art Mitsubishi engines to repower a harbor tug.

Jackie Sue was refitted with twin Mitsubishi S12A2-Y2MPTK engines rated 940 hp at 1,940 rpm.  This is the second such project for the St. Louis, Missouri, fleeting company, with nine more on the horizon.  "We are very happy with the performance of Mitsubishi and plan to repower our entire fleet with these EPA Tier-2 compliant engines," said Justin Davis, Osage Marine's St. Louis manager. Completely mechanical, with no auxiliary units, Mistubishi diesel engines are known for their dependability and fuel efficiency.  They meet the highest quality standards as recognized by Lloyd's Register of Shipping and other major international classification societies.
