Navalshore 2009 - VI Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Expo and Conference will be held on the 20th and 21st of August 2009. The 2008 show hosted 12,300 visitors to the 130 exhibitors displaying the latest in modern products and services for the sector’s industries. Navalshore is held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Aimed at promoting trading relations between clients and suppliers, the event is attractive to foreign companies. For this year’s edition, various overseas companies – from China, Holland, Belgium, Singapore, Argentina and Germany have announced their presence.

But the largest overseas group to bring its contribution to Navalshore 2009 is from Norway, represented by Innovation Norway (IN), a Norwegian government organization that promotes the country’s shipping industry all over the world. Within its In2Brazil Maritime project, IN is preparing small and medium-sized companies to operate in Brazil, through agencies, partnerships or locally established subsidiaries.

Paal Hovland, a senior marketing consultant for IN, explains that while the North Sea activities tend to diminish, the oil and gas exploration sector in Brazil gives clear signs of growth over future years. Additionally, pre-salt operations will also increase the demand for new Technologies, equipment and services. “This represents a considerable opportunity for Norwegian companies that are already at work in this sector,” He said.

Another good opportunity for approaching the main players in the Brazilian naval industry, running in parallel with the Exhibition is the 15-minute Business Sessions. This round of business discussions will be open to both Brazilian and overseas participants.

Aimed at promoting meetings with shipyards and suppliers of products and services for ships, offshore oil platforms and vessels in general, the 2008 business rounds arranged for 809 interviews with its 11 anchor company participants. For 2009 Transpetro, the Brazilian Navy dockyard and the Detroit, Eisa, Mauá, Aliança, Santa Cruz, Atlântico Sul and Superpesa shipyards have confirmed their participation as contracting businesses.

Navalshore 2009 is sponsored by Transpetro and Schottel Propulsões Marítimas.
