The Chilean Navy has chosen Transas Marine’s Navi-Sailor 3000 software as its electronic charting solution and an installation and training program is currently underway. The choice of Navi-Sailor 3000 has been made after testing of a number of systems and performance of harsh sea trials on board war ships and auxiliary vessels sailing along the extensive Chilean Sea areas, with special emphasis in the harsh environment of the southern area. This region presents specific navigational challenges and a constant demand for effective and professional navigation. The decision to adopt Navi-Sailor 3000 is seen as a significant contribution to their vessels navigational safety, and also aims to improve bridge and control procedures. One of the first systems to be installed is aboard the training ship "Esmeralda," which recently left port on her annual training voyage with the next generation of Naval trainees and Midshipman. They will have a great opportunity to use this modern navigation tool during their voyage through the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans towards the North and Baltic Seas. Several Combat units have also recently integrated Navi-Sailor 3000 systems into their bridge equipment, with implementation successfully completed by a technical project team comprising Transas Marine, Geoceano and Chilean Navy qualified staff. Geoceano is the official representative of Transas Marine in Chile. Recently Transas has received a DNV (Det Norske Veritas) type approval Certificate for its electronic chart display information system, Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS. It is the second generation of Transas ECDIS systems to have gained official recognition of the marine community.
