Norcontrol IT Wins Contract

Norcontrol IT has won the contract to provide the Vessel Traffic Management and Information System (VTMIS) to Port Mussafah of the United Arab Emirates. Delivery is scheduled for July 2002 and includes a three-year corrective maintenance package. Norcontrol IT will be supplying their world-renowned VTMIS 5060 system to Port Mussafah. The delivery will include a dual screen VTS Operator Workstation, a single marine surveillance radar with dual transceivers for redundancy, HF, and VHF radio communications and a hydrological and meteorological system. The delivery will also include a new VTS Data base 6070 Information system, which uses the latest in web-based application technology to deliver a simple and intuitive user interface. Port Mussafah has very demanding requirements for its Vessel Traffic Management and Information System. There is a very long and complicated navigational approach coupled with limited port marine resources available, such as tugs, pilots and berths. Steve Guest, director of sales and marketing for Norcontrol IT said, “Port Mussafah requires an extremely reliable ship tracking system, and our new VTS Database will improve the use of their port marine resources.” Due to the Norcontrol IT VTMIS 5060’s open architecture and modular design, future expansion is easily accommodated whether it involves the addition of sensors, relocation of existing modules or additional functionality.
