Coast Guard Places New Orders with Offshore Systems

Offshore Systems International Ltd., a marine electronic navigation company with a strong defense niche, announced today that it has received $1.4 million in new orders from the U.S. Coast Guard. The orders are for additional Offshore proprietary ECPINS®-M (Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System-Military) systems as well as system upgrades. "The order for system upgrades adds ECPINS, a full range of electronic chart data handling to the U.S. Coast Guard’s ECPINS®-equipped buoy-tending vessels, said John Jacobson, President and CEO of Offshore Systems. The order for new systems completes initial installation of ECPINS® on the Coast Guard’s two Polar-class icebreakers. The first ECPINS® system for the Polar class was procured and deployed earlier this year. As the Coast Guard’s fleet is significantly expanded to better protect the 360 ports and 95,000 miles of coastline and waterways around the United States, under the proposed budget of the new U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Offshore looks forward to continuing to provide the Coast Guard with the most advanced electronic chart navigation technology, Jacobson said.
