Panamanians to Vote on Canal Expansion

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 19, 2006

On October 22, Panamanians will vote in a national referendum on Panama Canal Expansion. The expansion would build a third lane of traffic along the waterway through the construction of a new set of locks, which would allow more traffic, wider ships and double Canal capacity. The Panama Canal will reach maximum capacity in the coming years. An expanded Canal would benefit the people of Panama and allow the Canal to grow to serve its customers and world trade.
