MES Produced 3.83 Million BHP in 2012

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Said they produced 3.83 million horsepower (BHP) by 187 sets of Mitsui-MAN B&W Diesel Engine at its Tamano Woks, (Okayama Prefecture) for fiscal year 2012, while the production in the previous year was 4.31 million horsepower (BHP) by 220 sets.

MES, since it first entered into technical agreement with B&W, Denmark (currently MAN Diesel & Turbo) for diesel engine manufacturing in 1926, has ever produced total accumulated engine output of 80,000,000 BHP as of November 2012 as a leading manufacturer of diesel engine. The annual production of this fiscal year is expected 3.3 million BHP.

MES confirmed that its world first built-in type Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system satisfied the third regulation of NOx emission using the world largest class test diesel engine (4S50ME-T) installed in its Tamano Works.

This year, MES will carry out demonstration test for an Electronically Controlled Gas Injection Diesel Engine (ME-GI), and will build an operation facility for the ME-GI engine together with its fuel gas supply system in the diesel engine factory in order to establish the supply system of the ME-GI engine.
