Wynn Provides Wiper System for Research Vessel

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

September 16, 2003

Recently launched fishery research vessel ‘CEFAS Endeavour’ relies on a wiper system from Wynn Marine to ensure a clear view at all times and in all weather conditions. Wynn’s best selling Type D wiper system forms the basis of a reliable and technologically advanced wiper system. The Type D is a heavy duty externally mounted motor Straight line wiper hailing from Wynn’s Ocean Range. It offers the most advanced design of linear wiping action available and is acknowledged as the most durable and reliable marine wiper in the world. Operating noise is especially low, fulfilling a specification that the CEFAS Endeavour must achieve on board noise levels far lower than those specified by the MCA. Reflecting the technology focused build of the vessel, Wynn’s Series 3000 network control system has been employed to provide the wiper system’s operating network and interface. The Series 3000 can control up to 50 separate wipers or other electrical equipment and comes in a modular design for ease of installation, maintenance and upgrading. The CEFAS Endeavour utilises the Series 3000 Touch Pad controller, which can be upgraded to the fully programmable interface Touch Screen controller if required. The 73m CEFAS Endeavour was built by Ferguson Shipbuilders of Port Glasgow for owners the Scottish Department of the Environment, Food and Rural affairs and has been in operation since March 2003. The vessel is operated by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science.
