Online Registration Open: Waterways Symposium, WCI Meeting

Online registration is open for the Eighth Annual Waterways Symposium and WCI Annual Meeting, sponsored by Waterways Council, Inc., Informa Econ omics and The Waterways Journal.  The Symposium will take place October 20-21, 2011 and will be preceded by WCI’s Annual Meeting on October 19, 2011, at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  The Symposium will explore the array of obstacles and opportunities facing the inland waterways, ports, and inland waterways transportation and is themed, “The Fourth “R”:  Why Rivers Matter to America.”  Among the topics will be World Economic Trends, Transportation Forecast for Commodities, Operations & Maintenance of Critical Infrastructure, the Political Landscape and View from Capitol Hill, Federal Policy Toward Investment in the Waterways, and a national media panel on Challenges in Covering the Waterways.

 
If you are involved with, depend on or interested in future opportunities on the inland waterways and ports, you will not want to miss this year’s symposium.  Attendees typically include representatives from the shipping community, transportation providers, representatives from environmental and labor groups, investors, bankers, officials from ports and federal/state/local governments, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other agencies, consultants, academics, and many more.
