63 Rescued After RoRo Grounds in Cebu

A total of 63 passengers were rescued and placed to safety after a roll-on-roll-off vessel ran aground along the vicinity off Polombato Port Terminal in Bogo, Cebu on Tuesday, August 20.

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Central Visayas chief Commodore William Melad said that M/V Super Shuttle Ferry 10 ran aground around 5:30 p.m. after hitting a shallow portion in the said area while maneuvering for its departure.

The vessel, owned by Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, was supposedly bound for Palonpon, Leyte when the incident happened.

All of the vessel’s 63 passenger were rescued and brought back safely in the port terminal.

Melad said that they are waiting for the next high tide before trying to extricate the vessel to its normal position.
