Rolls-Royce group has sold two UT780 tugboats to the UAE’s Esnaad, a unit of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. The boats, which will be able to operate in warm seas, are being built in Indonesia and will be ready in Q1 2008. Based on Rolls-Royce’s UT780 AHTS, the vessel has design modifications to facilitate operation in warm seas, the company said. In addition 500 tons of cargo can be carried on deck, while a six tank, bulk system has also been installed. Two Bergen C-series engines turning twin CP propellers will provide a bollard pull of around 60 tons. The ships are reportedly sold as complete systems and fitted with a range of Rolls-Royce manufactured equipment which can include diesel engines, rudders, propellers, thrusters and powerful deck winches. Darwish Al Qubaisi, Esnaad general manager, said that the UT concept enjoys a unique position. ITP Business
