Rolls-Royce, a global power systems company, has opened a new Marine Service facility in Guangzhou, to better serve its growing customer base in southern China.

Rolls-Royce is expanding its marine services network in China to deal with increased customer demand. The new facility in Guangzhou joins those already in operation in Hong Kong, Dalian and Shanghai.

The newly opened facility, located in proximity to Guangzhou’s busy commercial port and ship repair yards, includes a maintenance workshop and offices for a small team of service engineers and customer support personnel.

Gary Wieland, Rolls-Royce, Marine Regional Director – China, said: “Rolls-Royce is continuing to invest in its global service capability. This modern facility in the heart of Guangzhou’s Pearl River Delta, one of the busiest locations in the region for shipbuilding and repair, enables us to better meet the needs of our marine customers in the region. “Our global marine service network helps ship owners maximise vessel availability by providing them with highly skilled service engineers and maintenance facilities through long-term service and maintenance contracts.”

The facility will serve customers in the commercial and offshore sectors and can repair and overhaul a broad range of Rolls-Royce marine equipment, including diesel engine components, tunnel thrusters and propellers. Rolls-Royce engineers will also carry out servicing and repairs on board vessels and can conduct essential maintenance underwater, minimising the need to dry dock vessels.

The Guangzhou service facility marks the latest stage in the implementation of a global Marine Service Center  network, which offers dedicated repair services in 28 countries, providing 24/7 support to customers worldwide. In the last three years, Rolls-Royce has invested to create new or enlarged marine service centres in 13 different locations.
