EBDG Grows Team in Seattle
Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) recently welcomed two new hires and two summer interns to the Seattle office. Zach McKinney and Jeremy Rice are the latest Marine Engineers to join the firm. McKinney, who holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, has expertise with a number of vessel types including barges, ferries, military and fishing vessels and workboats. He is also versed in detail design and specialty projects.
Incat LNG Fast Ferry Begins Trials
Incat's dual fuel fast ferry has commenced sea trials in Hobart Tasmania. The 99-meter vessel's twin LNG tanks were loaded with LNG for the first time last week. Testing of the gas system went underway with the GE LM2500 gas turbine engines being run on gas for the first time on May 27 at the wharf and at sea on May 30. Rolls-Royce Subsea Construction Vessel Delivered to Island Offshore
Island Crown is the latest vessel to come from the relationship between Island Offshore and Rolls-Royce. Once again the UT 776 CD has been selected as the basis for a vessel to meet some special offshore requirements. APT Contracts NASSCO to Build Four Tankers
American Shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, announced that it has entered into a contract with an affiliate of American Petroleum Tankers (APT), a company majority owned by funds managed by Blackstone on behalf of its investors, for the design and construction of four 50,000 deadweight ton LNG-conversion-ready product carriers with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity. The contract includes options to build four additional ships.

LNG as marine fuel takes another step forward as Eidsvaag AS took delivery of the first vessel of the Rolls-Royce prize winning Environship range this week, featuring a combination of Rolls-Royce design and technologies which reduce CO2 emissions by up to 40 percent compared to similar diesel powered vessels.
