New RBG Gulf of Mexico Service Centre

April 5, 2010

RBG, provider of fabric maintenance and construction support to the global energy industry, expanded its Gulf of Mexico (GOM) operations with the opening of a new service centre in Lafayette, USA.

RBG has been operating in the region since 1999 and the move comes after the company outgrew its previous facility, also located in Lafayette. The new base will increase capacity, efficiency and cost-effectiveness for clients, while supporting RBG’s continued growth in coating and cleaning services to offshore and onshore clients in the region.

The 18,000 sq ft site, which houses indoor storage, training and administrative facilities, will offer RBG’s full range of Fabric Maintenance services including blasting and coatings, specialist cleaning, insulation and scaffolding.

In 2009 the company introduced a new fleet of 55,000 psi Ultra High Pressure machines for water jetting to the region, which set new standards for productivity and environment-friendly surface preparation. In the past month, RBG has also deployed its Real Time Digital Imaging System to detect corrosion under insulation (CUI) on a platform process piping system for a major deepwater Gulf of Mexico operator. The technology halved the expected project time, from eight to four weeks, and lead to significant cost savings.

RBG’s Operations Manager, Marlin Lester, who is heads up the Lafayette operations, said: “We are very excited about the move to the new facility. With the expansion of our business and investment in new equipment, we had outgrown our previous premises and now have ample space to further grow and improve our operations. The new facility will also allow for enhanced training of our teams supporting platforms and onshore plants, ensuring they continue to lead the industry in safe and efficient fabric maintenance operations.
