August 31, 2011

N.E.I. Treatment Systems received its first order from Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry for two Venturi Oxygen Stripping (VOS) Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) to be installed aboard two 320,000 DWT VLCCs being built for Sovcomflot. Bohai is a subsidiary of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), one of the largest shipbuilders in China, and Sovcomflot is the largest commercial shipping group in Russia.
The two 6,300 m3/hr VOS Systems for the Bohai/Sovcomflot VLCCs will be delivered in the first and second quarters of 2012, representing the largest BWTS ordered to date by Bohai. The new order follows the successful commissioning in July of a 6,350 m3/hr VOS System on the first of four VLCCs built in Korea, as well as the successful commissioning in August of a 4,400 m3/hr VOS System on one of six 118,000 DWT Bulker Carriers built in China.
Commenting on the Bohai/Sovcomflot order, N.E.I. CEO Jon Slangerup said: "This new order is the latest in a series of key milestones for N.E.I. as we continue to advance our position in the expanding market for Ballast Water Treatment Systems. Bohai and Sovcomflot have made a strategic decision to install the VOS System to ensure BWTS compliance in advance of pending ballast water discharge regulations. The VOS System is certified and operationally proven to be the world's highest capacity BWTS, making it the ideal choice for our customers' VLCCs and large Bulk Carriers currently under construction in China, Korea and Japan."
N.E.I. Treatment Systems -- a private company in business since 2002, N.E.I. is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
