May 28, 2015

Entries are now being accepted for the 2015 SHIPPINGInsight Award, which will be presented at the SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition, Oct. 13 in Stamford, Conn.

The annual award honors a ship operating company and its technology partners for the successful implementation of an innovative technology or initiative that advances the state-of-the-art in ship and fleet optimization. A panel of independent judges will review entries and select the winner. The award will be presented at a gala awards luncheon on the opening day of the conference.

Award submissions should be in the form of a case study. Projects must have been completed within calendar year 2014 or 2015. The entry may be submitted by either the fleet operator or its technology suppliers. The entry forms may be downloaded at www.shippinginsight.com/awards. Deadline for submission is Aug. 15, 2015.

Winners of the inaugural SHIPPINGInsight Award last year were Stena Line and NAPA Group (a ClassNK company) for a fleet-wide program that achieved yearly savings of more than EUR 17 million using NAPA software to perform comprehensive shore-based monitoring of the eco-efficiency of 22 ships. A Certificate of Merit went to Matson Line and Emerson Process Management.

Now entering its fourth year, the SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition has become firmly established as the premier maritime technology forum in North America. Last year’s conference attracted more than 150 delegates from 10 countries.

“Our vision for SHIPPINGInsight is to provide a collaborative incubator for fresh ideas and new technologies to address the many challenges facing today’s shipping industry in an extremely difficult business environment,” said SHIPPINGInsight co-director Jim Rhodes. “To that end, we bring together senior shipping company executives with technology providers to explore practical solutions to improve efficiency in ship and fleet operations.”
