Geo Shipyards Delivers Lahaina

In early spring of 2002, a new multipurpose high-speed catamaran will be plying the waters around Maui, Hawaii. The Spirit of Lahaina under construction at Geo Shipyards in New Iberia, La., is a 65 x 27 x 9.5 ft. high catamaran. The USCG certified 149-passenger cruise ship tender, sightseeing and dinner cruiser was designed by Schuller & Allan Inc. of Houston, Texas. Utilizing the latest Rhinoceros 3-D surface modeling and Michlet resistance/wave amplitude prediction methods, precise lofting and low wake/wash characteristics were achieved. The all-aluminum vessel is powered by Lugger main engines developing a total of 1,200 hp for a fully laden speed of 24 knots.
