Singapore Dredging at Pioneer Shipyard

Dredging works are underway at the Pioneer Shipyard off the West Jurong Channel Singpore and will continue until 31 July.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No. 61 of 2014 dated 5 May 2014, the works are being conducted 24 hours daily - including Sundays & Public Holidays - within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
A) 1° 17.252'N / 103° 39.912'E
B) 1° 17.529'N / 103° 40.244'E
C) 1° 17.486'N / 103° 40.278'E
D) 1° 17.210'N / 103° 39.946'E

Dredging work will be carried out by dredgers held in position with anchors. The dredgers, with hopper barges in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50-metre radius centred at the dredgers. Dredged material will be transported to the designated dumping ground by the hopper barges assisted by pusher tugs.

During the operation, the dredger will be attended by tug boats. The tug boats will be used to shift the dredger.

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft of the project. Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
(a) keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
(b) maintain a proper lookout;
(c) proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
(d) maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22( Jurong Control);
and
(e) communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if
required.
