SkimOil Inc. has introduced their next generation electric MarineVAP evaporators for automatically evaporating away bilge water, gray water and even treated black water with no emissions.

With far greater control and monitoring of the whole process, the new MarineVAP with improved safety features: the materials, and controls technology and capabilities have caught up with the times, just in time for Subchapter M. No discharge is a good discharge.

Roscoe McWilliams, SkimOil’s general manager, says since hiring the new controls engineer Steve Hohman at the beginning of the year, special design considerations have been given to safety, performance and operation of the MarineVAP, with dual safety shutoffs, dual thermostats for overheating protection, audible and visual alarms for high/low water levels, with optional dry contacts out allowing the unit to be tied into a boats main control system. The high level alarm and cut-off switch give positive notification the unit is full and needs draining or attention. With dual drain valves, and a sight glass to allow the operator to visually monitor performance and determine when to drain the unit for periodic maintenance. With simple controls and only one moving part the MarineVAP with no emissions is simple to operate and maintain.

Unlike the previous version of the MarineVAP these new units are highly controlled, automated and monitored, equipped with stainless steel tanks, AND special low-density heating elements for long life and no maintenance.

The heaters are staged to go on/off sequentially (time of sequence between elements is variable but fixed by design). When the operating temperature is reached, only the number of heating elements needed to maintain efficient operation are on. This system minimizes power surges, helps balance the load AND greatly reduces power consumption which was always a limiting factor on electric powered evaporators. This heater technology has been used in SkimOil’s condensate evaporators for 10 years...but is now available in the MarineVAP.

According to McWilliams, the MarineVAP system is a complete ZERO LIQUID DISCHARGE, smart system for on-board evaporation of bilge water, gray water and even treated black water. It’s the logical successor to the original BilgeVAP bilge water evaporator system which was introduced over 15 years ago and is still in production and use on the inland waters. “now it’s like comparing a 59’ Chevy to a Tesla – it’s been vastly improved.”

The MarineVAP can turn any boat into a NO DISCHARGE ZONE”. With 7 sizes available the new MarineVAP can evaporate up to 25 gallons per hour (GPH) of marine waste waters, either on-board or on shore.  No discharge is a good discharge! www.MarineVAP.com
