Jee's Otway wins Subsea Award
Paul Otway of Jee Ltd has been awarded the Young Emerging Talent award at last night’s Subsea UK Business Awards at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center.
The award is designed to recognize young individuals showing the most promise in the subsea sector. Paul, 27, won for his work on projects as a subsea engineer within the company, including work on the world’s longest subsea tieback and project management of a major subsea pigging operation.
Paul said: “I am honored to be given this award, especially considering the level of competition in the category. I enjoy what I do, so to be given a prize for doing it is incredibly flattering.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work on such high-calibre projects this early in my career. The level of support and encouragement at Jee makes it a great place to work and I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without the encouragement from my colleagues. This award recognizes both my hard work and the work of the entire team.”
Trevor Jee, managing director of Jee, said: “The category recognizes the individuals that show the most promise in the oil and gas sector and Paul is a truly worthy winner. He has shown commitment and willingness to learn throughout his time at Jee. He is a brilliant example of one of our many graduates who progress steadily through the company to become an integral part of the team.
“Paul’s ability to deliver in every aspect of his work has resulted in him justifiably being praised from clients and I have no doubt that he will continue to excel with Jee. The award win is a great achievement for both Paul and for the entire Jee team”.
Paul joined Jee, a multi-discipline subsea engineering and training company operating in the global oil, gas and renewables industries, as a graduate in 2009. Jee’s graduate programme offered Paul the opportunity to be immersed in technical engineering straight away allowing him to work on major projects for multinational corporations. Paul is also in the process of completing a four-year Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS) for Chartership with the IMechE.
Jee has recently achieved a significant growth milestone by opening the company’s first London office. The new office will aid the company’s overall growth strategy, which will see the firm create 150 jobs in the UK over the next 4 years, spread across its bases in London, Aberdeen and Tonbridge, near London.
