Survitec Group announced that it will showcase its SurvitecZodiac range of escape slides and liferafts at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg as part of the Survitec Group Stand (Hall B5, Booth 324) and will include presentations of what the company calls the most advanced escape slide systems on the market.

Notable among these is the fully automatic ESS (Escape Slide System) MES escape slide system that can be launched at the touch of a button and made ready for use without any crew involvement. According to Survitec , this system has been winning sales, particularly among fast ferry operators, who recognize the value of having crew available for other emergency tasks while the escape slide and liferaft are being prepared automatically. These slides employ a single escape track that can be any length suitable for freeboards from 1.2 m to 3.8 m. It is also easily retro-fitted and can make a particularly valuable contribution to any vessel operating with a small crew.

For ships carrying more passengers the SurvitecZodiac Medium Evacuation Slides (MES) can also be reviewed by visitors to SMM. These double track systems offer the fastest evacuation times available from any escape slide system when used in conjunction with Survitec high capacity liferafts. These versions have been certified as capable of evacuating 750 passengers in 30 minutes and 400 passengers in just 17 min 40 sec. The system has been tested and approved for slides to heights up to 12.5m and this enables Survitec to meet the evacuation needs of almost every type of vessel. The company can offer a full range of slide systems from 1.5 to 3.8m (Mini-Slide) and 3.8m to 12.5 m (Medium Inflatable Slide, twin tracks) of freeboard. Where vessels have a freeboard in excess of 12.5m, Survitec offers a broad range of chute and raft evacuation systems up to a capacity of 860 including its award-winning Marin Ark system.

The Survitec Group stand at SMM will be a focus for all of the advanced safety expertise available from the company. It will bring together products from the individual companies within the group and will include equipment from RFD, DSB, Brude and Crewsaver which between them will cover every aspect of maritime lifesaving technology.
