New Mooring Technology for Oil & Gas Operators
Measurement Technology NW has recently completed a contract to provide an eight-point mooring monitoring system for the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Designed for NPCC's SEP-350 (Self Elevating Platform) vessel, the new running line tensiometer and LCI-90 Dual Winch display system replaces an old four-point mooring installation that no longer met the company's performance standards.
The opportunity to continuously monitor current trends and historical peak loads locally at the mooring station, in the control room and off-site through the PC increases the safety factor. Without historical logging of peak tension loads, rig and risk managers must rely on visual inspections and guesses about wear and tear on their vital mooring systems.
NPCC's new mooring instrumentation consists of eight running line load monitors optimized for 1.5" wire rope and equipped with rotational and force transducers in a removable center sheave.
Measurement Technology NW Line Control Instruments (LCI) produces a range of precision line control products, including the LCI-90 and LCI-100 series displays, WinchDAC and MarQuip Mooring software.
