Maiden Call of "Glovis Condor" at the Haropa Ro-Ro Terminal

GLOVIS, a Korean company and a newcomer as a shipping line, was at first expert in global automotive logistics. As a result of a tonnage agreement with Hoegh Autoliners, the latter market this shipping service on the Middle East trade with one vessel per month and GLOVIS manages the operations, with Marmedsa as Agents. The Glovis Condor calls for the first time at Le Havre as part of the service.

“Glovis Condor, built in 2011, arrived early this morning to be handled at the Le Havre ro-ro terminal. She is the sister-ship of the Glovis Cardinal and the Glovis Cougar, both of them scheduled to call in Le Havre within the coming month on the Middle-East trade. Being 199.10 metres long for a breadth of 32.26 m and a draught of 11.21 m, the vessel sailing from Gothenburg carries 297 units on board. She has started cargo-handling operations this morning, offloading some vehicles and mainly loading vehicles volumes, especially ex GEFCO park. The vehicles involved are, among others, second-hand trucks for Jeddah and military vehicles for Saudi Arabia.

The vessel will sail tonight to Southampton and, via Suez, to Jeddah, P.S. Qaboos, Jebel Ali, Kuwait, Dammam, Bahrain, Doha, Singapore for bunkering, and Ulsan. The transit time is 11 days to Jeddah. As emphasized by D. Ternon from Marmedsa, “Glovis turns into a major stakeholder in maritime transport and is expected to experience strong growth in the coming years”.

On the occasion, a short ceremony took place this morning on board. Hervé Cornède, Haropa Commercial and Marketing Director, handed over a medal and a plate to the Shipmaster, Captain Lim Chang Seob. Hervé Cornède said, “despite the dull global automotive market trends, we recorded growing results for ro-ro trade last year and we are still confident to carry on increasing our traffic with the market of second-hand vehicles and spare parts.”
