Carrier Transicold Receives Major Sea-Land Order

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

August 27, 1999

Carrier Transicold has been awarded a major contract from Sea-Land Service Inc. for container refrigeration units configured with both Sea-Land's FreshMist humidity control units and EverFresh controlled atmosphere (CA) systems. These units are uniquely configured to offer temperature, humidity and atmosphere control integrated within one unit, says the company. "We have high hopes for the Carrier CA units we've purchased, particularly in areas where TransFRESH service is not available," said Geret DePiper, Sea-Land's vice-president and general manager for refrigerated services. "We also see large market acceptance for Sea-Land's FreshMist system, which is special to both Carrier and Sea-Land. It gives us the ability to maintain 95 percent humidity in our containers, so fresh produce will arrive fresher and with minimal weight loss." The units purchased by Sea-Land use the industry standard in refrigerants, R-134a.
