Global stakeholders in the unconventional arena will meet to identify and overcome the barriers to all types of unconventional gas developments at the third Unconventional Gas Aberdeen conference and exhibition March 25-26, 2014.

Dan Byles, MP and leader of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Unconventional Oil and Gas (APPG UG), will address hundreds of delegates at the two day event at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center.

He is joined by other distinguished speakers including Duarte Figueira, head of the new Office of Unconventional Gas and Oil at DECC and Ken Cronin, CEO of U.K. Onshore Operators’ Group.

Building upon success of previous events, the conference will bring together expertise from operators, suppliers, government, and academia from around the world. The core of the debate is making unconventional gas work and maximizing the potential of this industry to secure future energy supply, focusing on important themes such as supply chain, technology, planning, and the social license to operate.

Mark Lappin, General Manager of Dart Energy Europe is chairing the event. He said, “The development of the unconventional gas sector is accelerating rapidly and many stumbling blocks have been overcome. That said, the industry needs to take a good look at emerging barriers and identifying solutions.

“This is an industry led conference which aims to bring people together to develop pragmatic ways forward which are both commercially and socially viable. Addressing the very practical challenges such as community acceptance, supply chain development and gas grid access are some of the next crucial steps.”

The meeting is supported by headline sponsor ASCO, backed by additional sponsors Halliburton and Schlumberger.
