ABS Nautical Systems (ABS NS) donated its NS5 Fleet Management Software to the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP).  The donation includes the Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory, Crew Management, Quality & Compliance and Replication Manager modules of the NS5 software suite. The modules will be woven into the existing student courses as real-world examples, thus giving students exposure to the software throughout their educational program.

“Our curriculum is designed to prepare future officers for the practical challenges they will face throughout their maritime careers," says Acting President for the university Victor Luna.  “Our students will now experience first hand the management programs already in use on thousands of vessels," he adds. “This is of great value to our students and their future employers."

Founded in 2005, The International Maritime University of Panama (Universidad Marítima Internacional de Panamá) is the official university of the Republic of Panama.  Its mission is to develop future maritime officers who possess the technical knowledge, leadership skills, and values that will allow them to make positive contributions to the industry throughout their careers.
