MJP Waterjets Debuts New Line

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

April 10, 2006

MJP introduced in 2005 a new product line called DRB. The first model MJP 450 DRB is installed in the first AB 88, built at AB Yacht in Italy. Carrying impressive 3 x 1500 kW the over 50-ton vessel is capable of speeds over 60 knots running on all three engines. Operation with two engines is possible at maximum power, giving ship speed of 48 knots and thus proving the MJP Waterjet pump’s excellent performance and cavitation margin. The jet is equipped with a Double Reverse Bucket in short DRB with inboard hydraulics and is built on a glass fibre intake. The all stainless steel jet pump, steering and reversing unit offers superior strength and corrosion resistance compared to its aluminium competitors. The DRB product is offered with a control system with normal throttle and steering wheel. VCS, Vector Control System joystick is offered as an option for easy harbour manoeuvres. The floating drive shaft enables the jet drive shaft to be extended all the way up to the gearbox flange making any intermediate shaft as required by competitors unnecessary. The DRB is first offered in 450 size but will be available in larger as smaller sizes as requested by the market
