Fishermen’s Energy receives final construction permit for demonstration wind farm off Atlantic City

Fishermen’s Energy announce that it has received approval from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers for its Individual Permit under the Clean Water Act, for the Fishermen’s Atlantic City Windfarm (“FACW”). This is the final permit required for the construction of the wind farm which will be located directly off of Atlantic City.

With receipt of this final permit, Fishermen’s Energy has all federal and state permits necessary for construction of the first demonstration offshore wind farm to be built in the US, making the New Jersey resort the birthplace of offshore wind in the Americas.

"This final permit from the US Army Corp of Engineers brings the Fishermen’s Energy demonstration project off Atlantic City one step closer to fruition. This project is the catalyst needed to jumpstart the offshore wind industry in New Jersey and it sends the right signals to manufacturers that New Jersey is open for business," said Rhonda Jackson, communications director of Fishermen’s Energy.

Fishermen’s Energy will now focus on final contractor selection for the project. Construction in Atlantic City is planned to commence onshore in 2013 with offshore construction and commissioning of the first grid connected U.S. offshore windfarm in 2014.
