VLGC for Astomos Energy Named
A naming ceremony was held in Kumamoto Prefecture at the Ariake Shipyard of Japan Marine United Corporation for a new VLGC (very large gas carrier) that NYK will charter under a long-term contract to Astomos Energy Corporation, pre-eminent liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) company.The ship was named “Lily Promenade” by Kazuhisa Otsuka, senior operating officer of Astomos Energy Corporation, and the ceremonial rope holding the vessel in place was cut by Mariko Kurokawa of Astomos.
Damen Signs with KS&EW for Another ASD Tug
Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) for the materials package of a third ASD Tug 2009 under the Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC). The order follows a contract of two ASD Tugs 2009 signed in July 2019. KS&EW are building all three vessels with Damen’s support.Construction of the first two vessels is now underway, following a steel cutting ceremony held on October 11, in Karachi.
Oil Stockpiling Builds Ahead of IMO 2020 Rules
S-Oil, South Korea's third-largest refiner, said on Wednesday that regional refining margins are expected to improve in the fourth quarter on the back of inventory build-up ahead of implementation of stricter rules on marine fuels in 2020.The refiner, whose top shareholder is Saudi Aramco, said in an earnings statement, strong demand for heating oil was also expected to support refining margins, along…
