W&O Realigns Leadership Team
W&O, a global supplier to the marine and upstream oil and gas markets for pipe, valves and fittings, valve automation and engineered solutions, has promoted two long-time employees to Vice President as part of the company’s continued focus on providing engineered solutions, support and education to the marine industry. Fred Loomis will now serve as Vice President of Technical Sales, and Todd Nestel will serve as Vice President of Engineered Solutions.
Intellian, Kymeta Announce Agreement
Intellian, a global provider of stabilized marine satellite antenna systems, is partnering with Kymeta corporation to commercialize next generation Ku-band maritime satellite terminals. Intellian announced the partnership today at the SATELLITE 2015 conference in Washington, D.C. The terminals, built by Intellian, will integrate Kymeta’s thin, flat, lightweight, electronically beam-steered mTenna satellite antennas, which are built on metamaterial-based technology.
SC Ports Report Cargo Volume Growth
February marked the second consecutive month of 18 percent container growth at the SC Ports Authority, bringing fiscal year container volumes totals to 1.23 million twenty-foot equivalent units, or TEUs. Last month Charleston handled 152,925 TEUs, a significant increase from 129,747 handled during the same month last year. Since the fiscal year began in July, the port's TEU volume is 14.3 percent higher than the same period last fiscal year.

Damen’s China Yard Expands Build Portfolio
The Damen Yichang Shipyard in China, commencing operations in 1999 as a joint venture between Damen Shipyards Group and Sinotrans CSC, has delivered cargo vessels from the Damen portfolio. Now, Damen announces the yard is rolling out an increased portfolio of vessels to a wider market audience. “Over the years we have achieved a good reputation for delivery time, reliability and quality,” said Executive Director at Damen Shipyards Group Hans Voorneveld about the yard on the Yangtze River.
AVEVA Inspires Korean Ship Designers
AVEVA Marine and AVEVA Bocad software licenses will be deployed in Korean Universities and schools to encourage the ongoing development of the local marine industry. Students will be introduced to the ship design process through hands-on experience with essential engineering and design disciplines. "We welcome AVEVA’s support to bring critical job skills to our students," said Professor TaeWan Kim, Seoul National University.

ABB to Power Tallink's LNG Ferry
ABB has won an order to deliver complete electric power plant, electrical propulsion systems and an energy management solution for Estonia-based Tallink Grupp´s new liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered fast ferry. The large-scale ferry will be built at Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland for delivery in the beginning of 2017. The vessel will be about 212 meters in length with a gross tonnage of 49,000.

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) completed and delivered a 56,000 dwt type bulk carrier M.V. Alam Makmur (MES Hull No. 1866) at its Chiba Works on March 16, 2015 to Lepta Shipping Co., Ltd., Liberia. This is the eighth ship of MES’ neo56BC, the new generation eco-ship.
