US Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) completes study of sleep patterns aboard 'USS Jason Dunham' (DDG 109). The study was conducted by personnel from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) who came aboard Jason Dunham to interview crewmembers about their watch rotations and monitor their sleep patterns, activity periods and reaction times. Dr. Nita Shattuck, an associate professor with the NPS Operations Research Department, said Jason Dunham's crew were the perfect candidates for the study.

Tugboat Fleet Expansion by Signet Maritime
Signet Maritime Corporation contracts Patti Marine Enterprises, Inc. in Pensacola, Florida, to construct tow Robert Allan designed tugs. Construction commenced in November 2012 with an expected delivery of December 2013 for the first vessel and March 2014 for the second vessel. Continuing the longstanding Signet tradition of naming vessels in honor of Americaâs Cup winners, the new RAmparts 3200 ASD tugs will be named M/V Signet Intrepid and M/V Signet Vigilant.
Seadrill Rig Contract Extended
Seadrill - North Atlantic Drilling Ltd. announces extension of Statoil contract for the harsh environment jack-up rig 'West Epsilon'. North Atlantic Drilling Ltd., a majority owned subsidiary of Seadrill Limited, announce that Statoil has exercised its option to extend the contract for the heavy-duty harsh environment jack-up rig West Epsilon by two years from December 2014 to December 2016. The estimated value of the contract extension is US$215 million.

Polarcus Limited received its eighth 3D seismic vessel in June, when Polarcus Adira was delivered at Ulstein Verft in Norway. The vessel is the second of two 12-14 streamer Arctic 3D seismic vessels built at the yard, and is the eighth vessel in the Polarcus fleet of the Ulstein SX134 design, characterized by the sleek Ulstein X-bow hull design. CMA CGM MARCO POLO
CMA CGM Group said that the CMA CGM Marco Polo, the worldâs largest containership, began its first voyage on Wednesday, November 7, in Ningbo, China. The ship is a 16,000 TEU vessel, owned by CMA CGM, sailing under the UK flag. Built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering) in South Korea, the ship displays exceptional dimensions at 396 x 54m, with a draft of 16m. CMA CGM Marco Polo is the first of a series of three 16,000 TEU vessels, will to be named after great explorers.
