SC Marine Research SRL Takes Delivery of Two Iver2 AUVs. OceanServer Technology, Inc. has recently delivered two AUVs to SC Marine Research SRL located in Bucharest, Romania. Marine Research is a new and dynamic company devoted to the research of aquatic environments in and around Romania. The two IVER2 systems will initially be used to map the sea bottom around the Danube Delta located on the Black Sea.

Wesmar Introduces New Catch Sensors
Wesmar, a U.S. manufacturer of sonar equipment, has introduced its new line of trawl sonar catch sensors. ‘They are the fastest and most powerful on the market,” said Dennis Soderberg, WESMAR’s Vice President of the Electronics Division. The Model CS20 WESMAR catch sensors work with the highly popular WESMAR TCS780 and TCS380 trawl sonar systems. Up to six catch sensors can be used on the cod end of a WESMAR system. Numbers 1-4 are compatible with other trawl systems.

ExxonMobil Helps Danaos Shipping Extend Engine Life
Engineers from Athens-based Danaos Shipping together with ExxonMobil, have reportedly extended the overhaul interval required for a piston in a DOOSAN-MAN B&W 12-cylinder K98MC-C engine from 16,000 hours to 42,575 hours. A recent overhaul revealed that cylinder number 11 was in remarkably good condition, with a negligible liner wear rate. The achievement took place aboard the containership MV CSCL Europe, which is chartered to China Shipping Container Lines.
