Converteam Delivers First 36MW Generator
Power conversion specialist Converteam has shipped the first of two massive 75 tonne, 36 Megawatt generators designed specifically to match the electrical power requirement of the propulsion motors for the Royal Navy's Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers. These are major components of the electrical system for the two new 65.000 tonne ships for which Converteam has designed the innovative Integrated Full Electric Power (IFEP) and propulsion system.
General Dynamics NASSCO $744M Contract
SAN DIEGO – General Dynamics NASSCO announced today that it has received from the U.S. Navy a $744 million modification to its Mobile Landing Platform (MLP) contract to fully fund construction of the first two ships of the new ship class. Construction of the first ship will begin immediately, with delivery to occur by the spring of 2013. The contract includes an option for the construction of a third MLP which, if exercised, will increase the total contract value to approximately $1.3 billion.

Submarine Lembit Reaches Land
The evening of Saturday, 21 May, saw the completion of a long and complicated engineering technical process, as a result of which the 600-tonne submarine Lembit is now securely on land. Submarine Lembitwas lifted out along a 100-metre ramp or slip built especially for that purpose at the Seaplane Harbour. For winching the submarine out, Lembit was supported by 8-metre pontoons and armoured car BTS-4, built on the basis of T54 and equipped with a winch, was used to pull the submarine out.
Odfjell Receives $50.7M from Russia
Odfjell received today USD 50.7 million from Sevmash following the Russian Supreme Court's rejection of the appeal from the yard. The amount includes the award from the arbitration panel in Stockholm, legal cost and accumulated interest. In 2009 Odfjell accounted for the awarded amount with USD 43.3 million as income. Our efforts to enforce the payment of the award have been ongoing since December 2009, and the first ruling in favour of Odfjell was in the Court of Arkhangelsk in December 2010.
