Crowley to Supply LNG in Puerto Rico
Crowley Maritime Corp.’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) services group has been awarded a multi-year contract to supply additional volumes of containerized, U.S.-sourced LNG to a major pharmaceutical company’s manufacturing plants in Puerto Rico. The contract, executed through Crowley’s Carib Energy LLC subsidiary, extends a 2014 contract awarded to Crowley for LNG supply for the facilities by expanding LNG services to additional plants.
Flores Named VP at NETSCo

Crowley’s New STS Cranes Arrive in San Juan
Three new ship-to-shore cranes that were constructed in Ireland were delivered to Crowley Puerto Rico Services’ Isla Grande Terminal in San Juan on Wednesday. The cranes are a key element of the $130 million Crowley is investing in infrastructure improvements to its Isla Grande Terminal, and their arrival marks the first time new, specialized gantry cranes have been received for operation in the San Juan Harbor in five decades.
Jones Act LNG-powered ConRo Ship Launched
Crowley Maritime Corp.’s newest combination container/Roll on-Roll off (ConRo) ship has been launched at the VT Halter Marine shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss. for the Crowley’s service between Jacksonville, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Named El Coquí after a beloved frog native to Puerto Rico, the ConRo is one of the world’s first to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The ship will now proceed through the final topside construction and testing phase before beginning service in the U.S.
USMMA Resumes Commercial Sea Year
On February 15, we announced that Sea Year training for U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) Midshipmen will resume on three commercial carriers – Crowley Maritime Corporation, Maersk Line Limited and American President Line. This followed implementation of comprehensive new requirements for commercial carriers to ensure that the academy’s standards for behavior, leadership and integrity are upheld.

Crowley Maritime Corp. and Eagle LNG Partners have started to build a new shore-side liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility on Crowley-leased property at JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal in Jacksonville, Fla. The new LNG bunkering facility will serve Crowley’s Commitment Class LNG-powered combination container/roll-on roll-off (ConRo) ships presently under construction for use in the U.S. Mainland-Puerto Rico trade.
Crowley Relocates DC Government Office
To better serve its government customers, such as the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) and Naval Sea Systems Command, Crowley Maritime Corp. has moved its Washington, D.C., office to 100 M Street - adjacent to MARAD and the Navy Yard in the southeastern quadrant of the nation’s capital. This new location puts Crowley closer to its clients in the District of Columbia while maintaining close proximity to Congressional offices.
Commercial Sea Training Resumes for USMMA Cadets
The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) has announced that Sea Year training for USMMA Midshipmen will resume on three commercial carriers beginning in March 2017. The reinstatement of the program follows the implementation of comprehensive new policies, including a zero tolerance policy for sexual assault and sexual harassment to ensure that the Academy’s standards for behavior, leadership and integrity are upheld.

Hannah Wistort, Webb Institute class of 2017, is the 2016-2017 recipient of Crowley Maritime Corporation’s Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship. Webb’s scholarship selection committee chose Wistort for her academic excellence and leadership skills. Wistort, who is from Niskayuna, N.Y., has been involved with many student organizations and community projects. She is a member of the Webb Leadership Committee, which organizes community service and outreach projects for students.
