DESMI announced it is now offering advanced ballast water testing, analysis and evaluation services to help shipowners verify the quality of onboard ballast water to comply with the Ballast Water Discharge Standard.The company said it signed a contract with Eurofins Maritime Services, a part of the international group of Eurofins-laboratories, known for its wide range of analytical testing services across various industries, including the marine sector.
DESMI’s Aquaculture Treatment Systems Validated by DNV

Humphrey Lau has been named as CEO of DESMI, a Danish manufacturer of pumps, pumping systems, environmental cleaning equipment and related products within flow technology. He will succeed Henrik Sørensen, who has decided to step down on December 1, after more than 26 years as DESMI CEO.Humphrey worked for 16 years with Novo Nordisk and Novozymes and 14 years with Grundfos where he most recently held the position of Group Senior Vice President, Global Industry Business.

MISHA to Install DESMI BWMS Fleet-wide
Danish firm DESMI Ocean Guard A/S said it has finalized a contract to supply CompactClean ballast water management systems (BWMS) to the entire fleet of Turkish ship owner MISHA Shipping. The contract includes delivery of 10 CompactClean BWMS in sizes from 340 to 750 m3/h, with the first system to be delivered later in 2018 for the m/v Mohican currently under construction. MISHA Shipping is a privately held company with both shipping and shipyard activities.

According to the manufacturer, the name reflects that this system sets a new standard for how small the footprint of a BWMS can get. “With the CompactClean system we have managed to develop a system that can treat ballast water everywhere in the world and meet both IMO (International Maritime Organisation) and U.S. Coast Guard standards," said Rasmus Folsø, CEO of DESMI Ocean Guard.

The partners behind DESMI Ocean Guard A/S today announced that A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S and UltraAqua A/S have sold their shares in DESMI Ocean Guard A/S to DESMI A/S. The transaction gives DESMI A/S full ownership of the company, which presently has two Ballast Water Treatment systems in its portfolio. The newly developed RayClean system was launched recently but has already now secured several orders with the first systems being currently under installation.
USCG Approves DESMI Ocean Guard for All Salinities
On October 11, 2013, DESMI Ocean Guard’s ballast water treatment system OxyClean was granted U.S. Coast Guard AMS acceptance. The AMS acceptance covers all salinities ranging from freshwater to marine water. This is the first time the USCG has released an AMS acceptance that covers all salinities, as all previously released acceptances are valid in only marine and brackish water, and hence not valid in freshwater.
