Guided Missile Destroyer Jeremiah Denton (DDG 129) Christened

HII christened the future USS Jeremiah Denton (DDG 129), the third Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyer to be built at the company’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division.The ship’s name honors former U.S. Sen. Jeremiah Denton Jr., a Vietnam War veteran who was awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism as a prisoner of war. Denton spent 34 years as a naval aviator, including eight years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

HII Reports Q1 2025 Results

HII today reported results for the first quarter of fiscal 2025.First quarter 2025 revenues of $2.7 billion were down 2.5% from the first quarter of 2024, driven by lower volume at Newport News Shipbuilding, Ingalls Shipbuilding and Mission Technologies.Operating income in the first quarter of 2025 was $161 million and operating margin was 5.9%, compared to $154 million and 5.5%, respectively, in the first quarter of 2024.

HII Names Murphy as VP at Newport News Shipbuilding

HII announced today that Derek Murphy has been promoted to vice president of new construction aircraft carriers at its Newport News Shipbuilding division.In his new role, Murphy will have responsibility for all new construction aircraft carriers in production at the shipyard, including John F. HII, Job Corps Partner to Build Shipbuilding Careers

HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division in Pascagoula, Miss. on Saturday launched the first LPD Flight II, San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship Harrisburg (LPD 30), marking one of the first major milestones in the ship’s journey towards operational readiness.The Ingalls team translated Harrisburg from land to the company’s floating dry dock using translation railcars to support the ship’s movement across the pier.
